Plenty of clean water and it should recover fine.If no improvement then I would suggest trying a broad spectrum medication like Furan 2 and salt.

Francis, how much salt per Gal.?
    I do an 80% w/c every 2 to 3 days. It's
a 40 Gal with a pair in it. I will up the w/c and also add salt.
    Thank you

I would add 1-2 Tablespoon salt per 10 gallons for a few days. It can also assist osmoregulation problems caused by bacterial ulcers; help clear congested gills as well as supporting fish suffering from stress.

I would go 4 T per 10 but it would help if you posted a pic and let us know your water parameters.

I don't know how to post pictures but it's my proven female and it's her tail that is affected.
She looks like a , I think it's called an lyretail,. The rest of her finnage and the male's are perfect.
