Do the parents have gill flukes ?
I have heard some say all discus have gill flukes ,so mine must be the exception .
I have never treated my pair or fry ? I have never treated my rams in 7 years ...
I have not treated my new discus either .I understand prophylaticly treating fish if you are unsure of your source or just unskilled at recognizing issues when they present but I would never treat any fish without believing I had good cause ..The random 'willy nilly' use of meds has led to the decline of their effectiveness and poorer quality fish health wise IMO.
Some have reported since their supplier used antibiotics on their fish when young they are now needed anytime the water quality suffers and the fish have the slightest hiccup?
I feel bad for the people with those fish and for the choice of suppliers they made ..
I will say learning how to use Potassium Permanganate can be something that is beneficial for both when your fish are 'stressed' with issue or when they are healthy ..
This is just my method ,as I started with I hear many dose their fish without even having good cause ? I can not do that in good faith personally ..
We don't take meds to keep from getting sick ,we take them when we are sick .To prevent illness there are many other beneficial paths and for fish clean water is one of the best IMO.
My discus fry are now 10 weeks old and growing like champs ..Never treated with anything but good clean water .
