These are from Rio Nanay in northeast Peru. They are just beginning to color up but nowhere near breeding age. They do appear more blue and redder shoulder in a tank with dark substrate and scaping. The tanks they are in now are too light to bring out their natural colors. I have 7 in total. 3 males and 4 females. 5 are in with my Geos and 2 are in with albino dantums.
I treat them pretty much like discus with large frequent WC's 80-90% weekly or more often depending on how much food and type of food. The Geos are 4 G. dicorzoster, about 9" and 4 G. abalios about 6.75-8". I ordered G.proximus but was sent these. They look almost alike when an inch big. Temps are about the same as other SA fish but they seem to change down there with the seasons and do well with temp swings. They appear more olive green and blue this morning. The pics look really washed out in color.
