Default Parents getting aggressive after spawn

I have a red cover by Red Heckel cross pair. They how to get had a successful spawn but this is their fourth or so go at it. This time the male was getting really aggressive when they were tending the eggs. Pushing the female out-of-the-way attacking chasing her around the tank. I panicked and separated them cuz I didn't want the female to get hurt. Bad move? Should I just let them fight it out? Neither of them seem to be eating the eggs. You can see videos of the pair at my Homesteader.

I'm considering putting an eggcrate divider in there so the fry can still graze off both parents.
