Default help needed for breeding discus

I have two pairs of discuss in one aquarium (L=48", H=22", W=18") separated by a glass partition. both the pairs have laid eggs for about 4 to 5 times but none has hatched yet. in the first three cases they would eat their eggs after around 36 hours. but last time they did not eat their eggs but i found that all the eggs have turned white after around 36 to 40 hours. they have again laid eggs yesterday one pair in the evening and the other at night. just now i found that the eggs that were laid yesterday night has already started becoming white but the eggs that were laid yesterday evening are still orange and in both the cases the parents are guarding the eggs and fanning them. can anyone help as to why the eggs are not hatching ? the parents are around 2 years of age.

Hi Dipanjan, and welcome to the forum.

One of the hardest parts of breeding discus is establishing that you do indeed have a proven pair. This is a great start though, knowing that you have 2 females laying eggs for you. It does take pairs a fair few goes until it all comes together, providing you do in fact have a fertile male.

All you can do at this point is be patient and watch the activity going on during the egg laying process. If you have noticed the male passing over the eggs to fertilize them, his vent tube will be more pointed than the female, though it is very difficult to sex discus in this way.

Hopefully others will chime in and offer you things that you may try, but for now just be patient.

Would be nice to see some pictures of your fish too.

    Good luck.

Mine just recently started to lay eggs and let me tell you there are ups and Downs. After the 8th attempt they got it right but on the 6th try all eggs were white. Give it time but look for those wrigglers and once you see that just give me time

I am looking at your picture and it's not very clear on my
phone but it does have some dark eggs are fertile. From the
time of this picture taken it should be another approximately
around 72 hours before free swimming.

If you look very closely and it looks like little hairs that are wiggling constantly then they are wrigglers

What you see are the babies tails.

When i was looking at the eggs few hours back from the top it was still orange in colour the frontal view was whitish. It is rare that every egg becomes fertile and hatches in my experience .
Your pictures did not load up .
Hopefully with your lower TDS you will see some that hatch into wigglers very soon .
