Hello everyone. I dosed levamisole following the instructions that I got with the meds from Angels Plus. I treated for 48 hours and then did a series of large water changes. All fish went on a hunger strike even though all were eating very well before the treatment.
I did the treatment since three of my fish were getting skinny despite eating food and figured it was a great way of ruling out any internal worms that caused them to lose weight despite eating.
After a few days, their appetites returned and all are eating with gusto again. Except two. They do eat when the live Blackworms are first out in the tank but after the initial few bites, they don’t feed as aggressively as they did before. It’s now been a week since I stopped treatment.
Is it normal for a couple to take longer to return back to normal? These are wild discus that never ate anything much except for live Blackworms and frozen bloodworms. All kinds of various pellets and flakes are ignored so I’m pumping them up on live foods until they all Fatten up. 7 do the 9 are nice and fat. The three that were skinny were bulking up but now the two of them are not eating as much. Please advise if you have experience with levamisole. Now I’m scared to do the follow up treatment next Friday which is two weeks from the previous dose. Perhaps I should only do it for 24 hrs this time?
Also, any tips to train them onto flakes and pellets are appreciated.
Thank you.

My understanding is that fish will be reluctant to eat after dosing .
I never had any trouble but I always treat for any issue before they become serious .
Like with any issue the later in the game you start treatment the harder it is on the fish .
It is possible the two not eating were the most effected and are just having a hard time recovering .
Yes, they can go on strike for a bit. You may want to dose some epsom salts to clean them out a bit.
I've had some take it very well an others not so well.
Thank you both. Do you recommend I shorten the the second round bath to 24 hours given how much it impacted the two or will the shorter duration render the treatment useless?
Nothing to add re the treatment, but I have to say that's a very nice looking set up...I could sit in front of that all day!
I always followed Charles instructions which was 3 days and 2 nights at 13ppm .

Personally, I don't think much of the inkman.

It seems there is varying recommendations on the dosing duration of Levamosile, which I find curious because Levamosile is kind of a harsh medication that is best weighed and not guessed. Right or wrong, I just follow Al's recommendations because I trust that he knows his stuff, and he doses at 24 hours.
