Default Is this really a pair?

    Hey everyone
A guy I know wants to sell this pair of discus around(15cm), one is clearly bigger, and thicker, and they do stay together but they are the only discus in the tank so doesn't mean much.

So I want to know, is it really a male and a female?

Let me know what you guys think! Thank you all

I see this is your first post. Welcome to SD. You might not like what I have to say, but you asked what we think. Others will chime in I'm sure. The discus do not look like a good pair to breed. They're not up to the standard a discus should be. Shape/profile is way off. Most of their off spring will have that shape. Plus the top one looks slightly stunted.

The proven pair would be a better investment than a suspected pair. I can only guess using the dorsal fins that the top would be the male while the bottom the female. If you purchased them along with your investment in money you would also want to invest in time. What if the fish took 15 months before they spawned? Would you still have a friend?

The size of the eye relative to the rest of the head would indicate both fish are stunted. Both of them exhibit a parrot beak and have pitting around the mouth. I don't think these are fish you'd want in your fishroom.

Hard pass. I guess they are a pair technically, as there are 2 of them...

You can ask the seller to show you the fry.

With that quality - I would not buy them. The kink in the nose might also be because the fish were raised para-free - ask the owner. their shape is not good and deffo are stunted as said above because ot the relation between the size of the eys and the body of the fish.
