Formalin is defined as a 37% solution of formaldehyde, which would be otherwise unstable in storage. I've only use it for fry suffering from gill flukes. Have never treated parents with formalin.

I remember back not so long ago I use to dose my breeders after a spawn, to help with the size of the spawn. I ran out of my original formalin and now all you can find is this 37% solution. Do you experienced breeders use this new solution and if so what is your dosage? Jim in Ohio

At my age, everything is irritating.
I never was a big user for using formalin but
some of the breeders used it religiously. My use of formalin was mostly as Willie mention
The current amount would be 2 drops per
gallon for 37%. For hatching egg I usually use MB or
acriflavine.
