Well still keepin busy . Almost ready to set up the 125. I cleaned and polished the tank. Took out a lot of scratches and it looks a lot better. Next I reinforced the stand and painted it. I believe the reason for the crazing is the original owner had the tank just being supported from the sides. No center support. 657022AB-8474-4B95-8B3A-923764183149.jpg91839936-7F2B-47DE-8B07-845A68F17D82.jpg. So next I had to move the 75 to where the 125 is now sittingC798137F-B74D-4FD7-B3C7-98CE94CC744E.jpg son helped me lift the tank and we got t move and the 125 in place287B8CAA-3C20-49C7-A660-B40619F7882D.jpg so now just waiting for some input pieces and hopefully get it set up next weekend .

damn, looking good! Very nice of the tank reconditioning, looks almost brand new.

The last owner was crazy only doing side supports on a 125. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

So I filled it up and added some wood and gravel. Waiting for a pump but have a magnum filtering it with some floss and charcoal. Got sot plastic containers from odd lot and fill them with gravel. Plan to put some plants in them and see how that works out. Put 25lbs of gravel in and it filled the bottom. Thought I would need about 60lbs.F5FAE815-26C3-4CBF-BCA0-86C1BCE722A3.jpg thats last night and this is today.14E40FD7-099B-47F4-90E0-BA5A934D3F26.jpg.

Looks really nice! You sure have a knack for finding good deals on acrylic tanks!!!

    Just curious,
Does anyone ever use under gravel filters anymore?
I have always thought they are very effective if taken care of.
I guess they are obsolete now?

Yeah I’ll go with obsolete. They were on there way out when I was a kid. They were pretty much the culprit of old tank syndrome. All the muck that built up under them was a problem. To many better options now.

Well I got the wet/dry running today. Went with a dc pump (thanks coral) and this is new to me. Seems Toruń good. Lots of gurgling noises. Not from the pump just the water flowing. The overflow is very noisy. I added some matrix and bio-home I had from other tanks. Not sure what else to do. Time will tell D95CBBC1-1397-4070-BB75-0394A7D9B7BE.jpg

So today I added the first 2discus. There both Hans. But one was the hero fish that I added to Kenny’s group. Both of these are the white leopards from Hans and neither really grew. Got them in July at 2 1/2” and measured today they are just 3 1/2”. Plan to let them sit for 2 days and than add 4 more. 2 from each tank.17C3ED72-4031-40AC-BD73-5E7A9F57ECF1.jpg

Looks like you have some rummies in there too. I love rummies.

Those little guys should grow out nicely in that big tank!

That filter below with the DLS down flow should supply a lot of oxygen. Being in the koi hobby, we learned the importance of oxygen. It is every bit as important to making koi grow as is the food. We looked for every way to oxygenate our ponds. Down flow barrels with DLS like you have was a perfect way to do so.

Yes I added 6 rummies about a week and a half ago. Lost one. No idea where it went? But yes they are nice. Plan on getting more. Like wet/dry systems so hoping to or the best.

The whole trick with that DLS material is NOT have it sit in water. Not even the bottom of it. Completely above the water line. If you don't the oxygen effect does not work nearly as good and you simply have an under the water filter like the rest. It also gets plugged easily that way.

It is a great product to use. But it is a nightmare to clean when that time comes.

Thanks Vinnie! Luckily that’s the way it set up. Water is below the DLS. My sons buying me the heater for Christmas. So I will wait for that but I bought a hygger led light on Black Friday for $54. It’s programmable and 48” long with brackets that reach 60”. Just hooked it up and I’m impressed08B1575B-8A4E-4A92-85D8-B3445ECFB222.jpg.

You are gonna love that heater. We have 3. One is outside on a fountain! Doing a great job with 800 Watts. As far as I am concerned, there is not another heater on the market. I am sure, sooner or later one will fail, but at this point I am nothing but happy with them.

I just love your setups bro. They are great looking tanks. Wish we lived closer so I could see them in person.
