I run all my sponge filters double stacked. Same footprint, twice the biological filtration capacity.
P.S. If you crop your picture just a bit, it'll post right side up.
SO I did a little modification/add-on to this Aquatop Classic Flow filter.
Drilled holes in the top of a Diet Dr Petter bottle. Ran the airline tubing down thru the top and added media.
I hot glue the bottle to the top of the filter. The top tube of the filter goes up inside the bottle. I cut it off 1/2 length.
Voila.
I have been running these for a couple years now with great success.
I think it gets a double whammy this way.

BTW, Can someone tell me what I did wrong with this pic? It looks ok on my laptop, but it is sideways here.

At my age, everything is irritating.
That's a great idea! I will have to give that a try.
thanks Vinnie!
Yeah, it has always worked well for me. It gives the bacteria 2 different medias to live on. Not sure that helps but it makes me feel good! ; ^ )
I like Willie's idea of stacking the sponge filters as well. I will try that sometime.
Here is a pic of the filter upright.

I think I got the picture thing figured out now.
Here it is in the upright position.
Does a great job on this 56 gallon tank.
