    Default 180G Stocking Ideas

    Hello,

I currently have a 180G Blackwater tank with a 40G sumo set up that is housing:
    5 x F1 Altum Angelfish
5 x wild caught Rio Tefe Discus
    9 x Rummy nose Tetras
2 x wild caught Chocolate Cichlids (This spawning pair are currnently divider from the other fish and will be removed within the next 2-3 weeks)

I am going to be completely overhauling and rescaping the whole tank once the chocolate cichlid pair are removed.

I currently have two plans of what to possibly stock the tank with and wanted to hear people opinions on what they think will work best. The tank is and will stay as a blackwater tank, pH runs stable at around 6.2 with a Kh of 1 (tap water is about ph 6.5 and kh 1

    Option 1:
    5 x F1 Altum Angelfish
5 x wild caught Rio Tefe Discus
4 x wild caught Novo Airão Heckels (currently in quarantine)
1 or 2 trios of Apistogramma Agassizii ‘Tefe’
    10-15 x sterbai corydoras
    20 x Rummy nose Tetras

    Option 2:
5 x wild caught Rio Tefe Discus
6 x wild caught Novo Airão Heckels (currently in quarantine)
1 or 2 trios of Apistogramma Agassizii ‘Tefe’
    10-15 x sterbai corydoras
    20 x Rummy nose Tetras

With either option I believe the Altums will remain at the beginning and then move out once the heckels begin to get bigger. The heckels are currently 4 inches TL and the Tefe are around 5.5 inches TL (if I had to guess)
I’m happy for people to make suggestions about changes to the two options I have layed out!

The tank receives roughly 50% water changes twice a week,

I prefer the second plan. You have to decide on your own what can be better for you.

I have very similar stock as in your option 2 in my 190g. For a school fish I prefer black neon than rummy nose. They are more calm and don’t red eye catching as rummy nose, so keep discus on the first plan.
