I live with it on a daily basis. One of my children often begins a thought or sentence mid point. While assuming that I have read her mind up to that point. It takes me a while to even get the gist of what or where the conversation is heading. When she was smaller it worried me but later on I realized that her IQ is some where in the stratosphere and me, a mere mortal, stood no hope of comprehending her. But what it has taught me is to look at the topic at hand and then think it outside of the box.

With regard to Vinni. He is a diehard rocker with a Jack Black air about him.

I think I will take that as a compliment. My daughter loves Jack Black.
However, I think I have more of a Brad Pitt look to me ~!

    BTW, back on topic...

Nancy ordered a new light bar for the shop tank.
    Should be in today.
I will do some pics after the light is installed.

The little ones are doing quite well out there.
They are really not little. 3-4"
Sure did make a difference getting them away from the big ones though!

It might be fun to resemble someone. so let me head way from topic again for a moment. One of my coworkers is a twin for Sandra Bullock. So much so that recently someone followed her to her car asking for her, Sandra's, autograph. One of my customers is a twin for Terrance Howard (Empire plus more than 100 other TV and movies). He tells me that he is always asked for his autograph because they think he is him. He tells then he is not and does not oblige. I asked him if one time for me if he would. Later he came in and told me he had granted my request. He was in Hollywood working, two women approached him asked for the autograph and a photo. He gave them the autograph. They asked if Empire would continue next season. He had no idea but said "yes". They were so happy, he said. And it was fun for him has well. Finally, I was at a party. I kept thinking the guy looking familiar so I asked him why I thought that. He said you are thinking of my cousin. He looks enough alike to his cousin, a famous Star Wars actor, that he too is occasionally asked for the autograph from an admiring fan.

Vinni, seems like you are always doing something with your fish and tanks. You must spend many fun filled hours each day in the enjoyment of your fish hobby.

I have worked very hard all my life. God has granted us much success and I retired at age 54. Well, I still work, but for myself.
I had open heart surgery 2 21/2 years ago. I am very healthy now.
We are not as rich as our kids think we are, but we are comfortable.
We are home every day with our dogs, goats, horse and fish and guitars, of course.
The band just rehearsed in my studio here on the ranch today from 11:30 to 2:30.
Every day is a Saturday and I am enjoying it to the fullest.
Fish have always been a big part of my life.
Guppies, Salt water, Koi ponds and now Discus.

    Funny story for you.
When we first moved to Nashville, I was much thinner and bushy hair.
Everyone thought I was Marty Stuart.
People would dollar at me out the window of cars.
I could not even go into Home Depot without being approached.
One day I finally took a picture with Marty behind stage at The Grand Old Opry.
Now I show them that pic. Otherwise they don't believe me.

One day I was in the grocery store.
I mentioned to the check out girl that I looked like Brad Pitt.
    She said "yes you do".
    I leaned over and said
"Sweetheart, I don't look anything like Brad Pitt, that is just one or my jokes".

I would get that sometimes when I was younger but unfortunate for me it was Bill Murray. But when someone said that I looked like Bill Murray I would reply, no, Bill Murray looks like me. But unfortunate for him I a better looking. It would get a laugh.

That's funny. I love Bill Murray.

I told Marty Stuart when someone would call out his name or honk at me I would flip them off.
He said "Good, you keep doing that!"

First time this has ever happened in the many years I have kept goldfish.

Rob, in the main tank started chasing the discus away from the food.
    Unreal.
I did not even know that was a possibility.

So, Rob is now a resident of the fountain out front.

But that's ok. I still have a little black Moore in there doing a great job.

If folks wish to keep goldfish with discus that is fine. Please observe QT procedures. I would suggest before keeping goldfish with discus that new discus keepers learn how to properly keep discus well and healthy before experimenting with goldfish. This way they have a measuring tape on how well the discus are actually doing with goldfish. My two cents.

Great observations Pat. I agree 100%

After living with Goldfish and Discus together now for a few months....

I like the Black Moores the best.
They do a great job and the Discus just love them!
Check out how clean this tank is after 3 days!
    No maintenance and no poop!

I am happy about this combination because I have always loved Black Moores.
    But they do get big.
    We will re-evaluate then.
    Maybe a bigger tank??? LOL

Note: there are 2 other big checkerboards from Miranda at the top of the tank and are not shown in this pic.

Well, it has been about 5 months now since we added two fancy Goldfish to each of our Discus tanks.
Honestly, we could not be happier.
Not one sick or unhappy discus since the additions.
I do not know where the poop goes, but there is very little vacuuming to do with WCs.
The Discus seem to really like the company of the goldfish as well.
I have seen them even saddle up next to them in what appears to be a friendly gesture.
Lots of spawning happening with 3 pair so they must be happy.

Water parameters are all staying in check.
2 WCs per week in the display tank upstairs and 1 WC every 2 weeks in the tank downstairs.
The one out in the shop gets a WC when ever I get around to it.

We LOVE our Discus and our Goldfish.
Visitors here seem to comment more on the Goldfish when they are here enjoying our tanks.
Nancy found a very beautiful silver/gray one not long ago.
We also have Black Moores and red/white ones.
    All fancy fantails. Just beautiful.

SO, this seems to be one experiment that has really turned out nicely.
I am so glad I found that original video on mixing Discus and Goldfish.
For us, it is a GREAT combo.

Here is a GREAT video from Cory at Aquarium Co-Op.
    I love that guy.
He has about the same opinion of Goldfish that I do.

I don't like the way most gold fish look but I am not going to google and see if there is a type of gold fish that I might like. My first fish were gold fish and with them I learned of the benefits of salt for sick fish.

Glad it’s working out Vinnie. Tank looks great! I too just got some rummie noses. Will be moving them into the main tank soon.
