Default New discus started laying eggs!

    https://youtu.be/mpOJ-oWMB84

Yelp! I'm new here. My new discus (just got them last week) paired and started laying eggs. They seem to be eating some of the eggs though. Took out the 3rd discus from the tank already. One thing is that these two haven't even started taking to my food (home made mix of lung, shrimp, garlic etc) that I usually feed my other discus. They still have not eaten anything since I got them.

UPDATE: It's been about 24 hours so far and they seem to be caring for the eggs now in turns. Will monitor to see if they eventually hatch. They still havent eaten yet since they arrived.

    Any advice is appreciated

What temperature are you keeping them at ?
Many raise the temp to increase appetite .

Try over 86f if you can .
80 is pretty low for discus and raising the temp may help their metabolism .

That would suggest that you do not have a heater in the tank? You should be okay at 80 as I have two spawns in past 2 weeks at 81 degrees. A higher temperature might help to entice eating but also serve to the eggs incubating faster. Although at 81 degrees my last spawn occurred in 4 days.

Ah I see. I thought usually they hatch in about 48 hours. So far they are still looking after the eggs but not eating yet. Will see if I can raise the temps a bit.

Correction, it was 72 hours not 96 hours to hatch. It may have been less than 72 because I did not look earlier than that.

Looks like a very fertile spawn. Temperature 80 night time or during day. I know that it's gets really when I was staying at Marina Bay Hotel. Anyway don't worry about the pair not
eating, some pairs go on an diet when they have fry, once the fry are remove they start eating again.

Think I saw a couple of wigglers so far. They rest haven't hatched yet. They are still guarding the eggs. Hopefully the rest will hatch soon

Other than a couple of wigglers, none of them hatched. Should I let them be or should I remove the eggs? It's been 4 days
