Is it a bare bottom tank? How often do you clean the filters? For $20 try a odyssea 350 off eBay. Fill it with floss and see if it clears the water. Kinda like a water polisher but cheaper.
I've been running two (2) API XL canister filters on my 110 gallon tank for about two years now. I have 13 discus ranging from 2.5" to 6".
I do 20-30% water change 3-4 times per week along with a weekly tank inside glass wipe down.
I also run a UV filter in my tank.
The problem i'm having is ongoing hazy water. I feed the fish 2-3 times daily (sparingly) with either beefheart or hans flake.
I have experimented with different mechanical media sponges, microfiltrations, etc over the years. Two layers of both filters have biomedia.
I'm looking for suggestions and advice.
Thanks,
DocJoe

I like to use Potassium Permanganate to clear up water and encourage better growth.
Possibly just adding a air driven sponge or two would help ?
Try increasing the volume of wcs
21 Discus, 7 Green Tree Frogs, 3 Eastern Dwarf Tree frogs, 1 Coastal Carpet Python,6 sawshelled/Murray river turtles, 2 dogs, a cat, 2 kids and a wife. Phew...what a mouthful

tank is bb. filters get rinsed, sponge and floss media get rinsed or replaced as needed every 8 weeks (alternating filters every 4 weeks)
Larger waterchanges especially when feeding beefheart.
