    Default Is my KH alright?

Hi - I’ve added a DI filter to my RO system in order to get my Nitrates down.

I use a 75:25 ratio of RO to tap water (in order to keep my nitrates around 5ppm) but that leaves me with a Kh if 2.5 and a Ph of 7.4.

I’m worried that a Kh of 2.5 might not be high enough to prevent Ph swings.

From what I can tell I can’t increase the Kh without increasing the Ph and 7.4 seems like the right place to be.

Is my Kh alright or should I try and increase it? If so what’s the best way to do it?

    Thanks!

My KH is is 2-3 and I have never had trouble .
Water changes done on a good schedule will avoid the pH crash many speak of .
I have never had one going on over 10 years with my water ..
I would not increase it as consistency is the most important thing IMO.

I change water [ 75-90%] weekly if not more often .It really depends on the tank and the fish in it .
Some get every other day now since I am busy ,but in the winter I change many tanks daily .
