Default New guy on the block

I'm finally doing as Cliff suggested. After the 8 tries and only one that hatched plus 3 since that haven't hatched, I introduced a 3rd male in the breeding tank. My choice is a much better choice than her first choice. He is bigger, he is thicker, he is more robust in every way.

New man took a dislike to old man right away. He didn't tear him up but he bit him a few times and kept him away from the lady. Right now the female is snuggled right up to new man while old man is keeping his distance. I've never done this before. I want to see how things go tomorrow. She's not due to spawn again for another week. But I'll take old man out before I see any harm come to him.

i was considering this tactic. Are the 3 living in a 20 or 30 gallon breeder? I viewed a youtube video produced by a breeder who did this in order to get the pair to either spawn or to choose a mate. I have a female who will lay eggs but the pair that was confirmed the male will chase her away from the wigglers. I switched males, she spawned again. But the male did not bother to fertilize. I will be curious to learn how your experiment turns out.

I took Old Man out and put him back in the community tank earlier this morning. He was only getting picked on and Lady Fish had made her preference obvious.

She was the one to decide on her old husband but IMO he wasn't good enough for her. I chose her new husband and she preferred the big strong guy this time. If he doesn't have a strong sex drive I will be angry.

He's not old in age. He's just 2. He's old as in worn out and used up. The new man is his sibling.
