Default Tank failed forced to move fish to other discus tank

My fish tank started leaking this afternoon, forcing me to move 8 adult sized discus to my identical setup that already has 8 adults in it. I moved the HOB and sponge filters with the tank. The tank is a 72 gallon.
My question is how long can I get away with 16 in the 72 if I do daily water changes and light feedings? I am going to check with where I bought it and see if there is a warranty to get it replaced ( tank is a year old and an Aqueon)

Would I be better off going out tomorrow and trying to find a tank?

Same thing happened to us about 4 months ago.
Moved 12 fish into 56 gallons.
For over a month all was ok

Thanks Vinni. I will just stay up on the water changes and keep feedings light

I think too that it depends on the sizes of the fish. You have 1 fish to 4.5 gallon ration. For full grown discus that is tight but for little guys maybe 5 inches you would okay for the short term if you do as Vinni suggests.

    Yep.
    LOTS of WCs.
That is good even if you are not overcrowded.
They do indeed love fresh, clean water.

Just keep up with the water changes and you should be fine...
