    Default Shy juveniles

    Hi
I am new to the forum and discus keeping. I have a 65 gallon tank with sump. It’s bare bottom with bonsai tree and 2 plants in bowls. I change 40 gallons every two days. I have 7 discus about 2 1/2 inches that I bought 2 weeks ago. They are feeding well on muscle mix from breeder, dried black worms and tetra pellets. The only trouble I have is they are really shy. They hide as soon as I get close to the tank. Is this normal? Is there anything I should be doing to encourage their confidence. I want to leave the bonsai in the tank but should I remove the plants?

You may try sitting with your face close to the aquarium for about 30 minutes. It is a matter of conditioning them to get used to you.
