    Default QT tank

I just bought a 90g DT yesterday. Time to start thinking about a QT.

I'm thinking 8 Discus for my tank. And since adding them in groups is the preferred method. How big of a QT do I need, if I'm getting 8 at the same time?

Would a 55g suffice? Still seems small for QT'ing 8 fish at the same time....but at the same time I don't have a ton of room for a huge QT.

Pet Smart has their $1 per gallon sale going on right now; so this is why I'm asking.

It would depend on the size of 8 fish. For a short time 1 fish to 5 gallons would work if they are under 5 inches each. That would allow for 8 fish in 55 gallons. I recently kept 5 fish from 4 1/2 inches which grew to 6 1/2 average for over 1 year time in a 30 gallon tank. Frequent water change with good filtration and aeration were important.

    I’d say a 55 is great. I’m using a 45 now with 8 discus. They started at 2” and are about4” now. I change 30g a day. They are going into a 75 soon.
