Default Fully planted tank & newly added discus

    Hi everybody

I am new to this forum and this is my first posting. I have been browsing the forum since a couple of months back and found very useful info and insight.

I set up my tank about 6 months ago with several angelfish. The angelfishes lay hundreds of eggs for 4-5 times in the tank. I managed to grow up the babies of angel in a seperate tank.

A week ago I decided to have discus in my tank and move all the angelfish. I have now 8 juvenile size 2 inch and 6 bigger ones size almost 3 inch

I am still learning more about discus and appreciate your comment and feedback

    cheers

I rotated the picture for you

Very nice planted tank man! I see that you have a nice view in the back too. I bet if sunlight hits that side the water must sparkle.

Are you runnin CO2? Ferts? How often are you changing water with that planted setup?

Hi, thanks for your reply and help for rotating the pic

this is the second week I am having the discus. water change twice a week 40% volume each time. yes I run co2 and dosing ferts after water change (1/2 dosage of my previous weekly schedule). I must observe if twice a week of water change and ferts is good enough for both the plants and the discus

I install 2 additional powerhead in order to optimize surface gas exchange. And still observing if the setting good enough for the plants to get co2 evenly across the tank and there is enough gas exchange from top surface for my discus. So far my discus looking healthy and happy

    cheers

Great looking tank! Good luck with it. How big is it? It looks huge. What are you feeding your discus and how many times a day? They are young fish and will need to be fed a lot.

Iminit, I feed my discus 7 times a day. you’re right young discus eat like crazy. this affects schedule and the way of water change. when doing water change I prioritized to take as much as left over food or their poop within limit of max 50% water change. over 50% I believe will push the plants to adapt harder

Great pic it does look bigger. Mine is 60x24x18. My plants have no problem with water changes. But I’m not using co24B91F04B-1171-45A8-B7BA-3C61ECA5E926.jpg229A81A6-5AA4-425A-876D-066A40DB0C9E.jpg

Tom, why does there seem to be a cup of what appears to be the forbidden ounces of beer, I am suspecting to be lawn guyland brew always sitting atop one of the tanks?
