This in effect would be the same if you had received new fish and were going to quarantine them for a few weeks. Eight fish would be comfortable in a 55 gallon tank for a longer period of time than a week.
I’m getting a new floor installed in a week. I have to move my 90 gallon tank to put floor down. I have 8 discus and 2 golden nugget plecos in it. I have a 55 gallon tank that I set up last night in my basement. My thoughts are to take all fish and put them in the 55 probably a few days before my floor is installed. Also move filters from 90 gallon onto 55. Then I’ll move 90 gallon to another room until floor is done. Do you think fish will be ok for about a week in the 55 gallon. Any other advice?

It's a good plan Tom. The important thing is to keep the filters running with a bioliad where the bacteria are getting fed so you don't have a mini cycle when you reestablish the 90.
Thanks. One more thing. I have 2 ac110s and a FX5 canister filter on my 90. My plan is to take the 2 ac120s and put them on the 55. Then just take the bio media out of the FX5 and put it in media bags and put in the bottom of the 55 while fish are in there. What do you think?
That'll work just fine mate
One more question. Do you put anything under the wooden stand, like pads when it going on new hardwood floors?
If it's a flat wood to wood contact, then no, I personally do not. For a metal stand I would consider it, but it would depend on the leg design.
Yes it’s a wood floor going down. It’s a wood stand, so wood to wood is good. Got it.

Thanks all
