I thought this would be interested for people looking to enhance discus color. These are Gold Leopard Intermediates from Winnie's Discus. I got these from Ceyhun slightly under a year ago, so they're ~15 months old. Recently, a fellow breeder bought a mated pair from Winnie's and Ceyhun added a gift discus for me. The fish went through quarantine and was added to his/her siblings yesterday. After a big water change, they were nice enough to line up for a video.
Ceyhun raises his discus on beefheart and Sera Discus Granules. These foods contain no coloring agents in order so as to preserve their golden base. Mine get beefheart and FDBW, but the tank also gets VibraBites and earthworm flakes for the Corydoras axelrodi and gold rams in there. Of course, the discus will also eat these.
Ceyhun's present is the third fish from the left. You can see the golden base when fed without colorants. In contrast, my GLI's have developed a blue/white base with very red patterns. The VibraBites ingredient statements shows the following artificial colors: Red 3, Yellow 5. So these two colorants darken the pattern, but also dramatically change the base color.
Those of you with particular sharp eyes will also appreciate the Winnie's GLI's have multiple rings in their pattern.
At my age, everything is irritating.

The video needs to be edited and set to public instead of private
Hope this helps,
