My young Discus go for BBS until their 3 1/2" Other foods may have more nutritional but I believe that it's good for fish to hunt live food.

I’m all new to bbs and because they are so so small I didn’t think they were worth continuing. Is that all you feed 3.5 discus or are other foods added? Seems like I never finish them before they start dying off. Mine may last 2-3days.

You should offer beef heart or another high protein food to discus fry as soon as possible. I've had fry eat finely ground beef heart as early as 15 days free swimming. Only when they are weaned will you see rapid growth of the fry.

Liz continues to feed bbs, which I understand. But note that this is a supplement, not the main source of nutrition. Usually the fry will attack the lump of frozen beefheart even before it starts to sink. Now that I'm retired, fry gets 5 - 6 feedings daily and everything gets eaten in 1 - 3 minutes. I saw no need for supplemental foods because everything gets vaccumed out with daily water changes.
At my age, everything is irritating.
