This virus stays dormant until it immunity breaks down then it becomes contagious this could be one day or one year the virus stays for the life of the
fish. I was given a original pair of Wattley Discus everything was fine for about one year. My Discus were all U.S. made Wattley's were U.S. bred
so how did I end up with this virus? The story is simple the Wattley pair I received
was once expose to the Asian Discus Plague and recovered before I received them. I asked the late Jack Wattley what kind of medication he said to
lower the ph, this will cut the bacterial count. I would lower the ph plus add the salt wipe down the slime on the sides and floor and do a waterchange everyday.

Currently I have not use any medication for disease treatment since 2007.

Wow, no issue since 2007. It’s really impressive. It seems you created an ideal environment for your fish. I guess you explain that on this forum, but don’t you mind to tell us what are your water parameters, WC schedule, filters and food?

Yes, you can use gelatin in place of metamucli. For me the Metamucil is easier, I think gelatin still have to be boil. Also gelatin can build up in their
    gut.

Thanks for a tip. With gelatin is better. It's able to glue to a side of the container and doesn't fall down. It's theirs 4th day and tomorrow I gonna try to feed them with bbs. So far our of 50 fry I lost maybe 3 ... so not so bad.
