Re: Discus Fries attracted with heater
Some people tend to heat the room, however i have seen where people just put the element part in the water as it has no black on it while the other half is out of the water. while only using one suction cup. Depending on what heater it is it should be fine to have just the element in the water, assuming you have your water level to half?
I also tend to put the air bubbles next to the heater to help them not being able to see it

How big a tank? You could move the heater location to the opposite side.

ok, this may sound silly but I would get a white sock and put the heater in the sock and put it back in the water.

Re: Discus Fries attracted with heater
I've wrapped white teflon tape around them in the past when I've had this problem. These days I don't bother doing anything though, the fry are still attracted to the filter and the heater but experienced parents just sit close to them and the young switch back and forth between the two.

Mine free swimmers tried silicon joints, sponge and heater ... everything but not parents
Next day they realised that parents taste the best.
