    Default food for breeding

I have a pair that haven't bred in a year. The only change I made is changing there food.
I use to feed them a seafood mix, fdbw's and prime reef flakes. Now I'm only feeding the fdbws and p r flakes.
Could this possibly be the difference?

I don't believe nutrition has much to do with breeding at all, unless you go to live foods like live blackworms. However, I don't think live foods are safe for discus.
At my age, everything is irritating.

Thanks Willie. I guess I'm going to have to find another reason.
Also, just as experiment, I'm going to go back to adding the seafood mix and see
    what happens.

I going to agree with Willie, live blackworms or white worms can bring the female to spawning condition. Hormone treatment can force a female to spawn within 24 hours.

I don't think a specific diet will induce a fish to spawn. Change will induce a spawning. Increase/lower water temperature, do not feed for 2 or 3 days, lighting change, relocate fish to another tank, etc. There may be a spawning season for your type of discus. For example I have a proven pair that have not spawned for about 6 months. Last week they began pecking on a pot while fighting at the same time. In an adjacent tank the same occurred with 3 fish. Both tanks get the same food, same temperature, and water changes. One tank has TDS around 260 while the other is around 180. One tank has ph of 7.8 and the other 6.8. Yet everyone decides its now time to begin pecking on a cone within a few days of one another, in separate tanks.

    You mention increase/lower water temp.
I keep them at 82f. What be the plus or minus h2o temps for w/c?
    Thank you

There are several hormones used to accelerate spawning, these are not for coloring. To name some of them are human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG), agglutinazing release hormone(LRH, and prolactin.

A change of temp of up 3 degrees or down 2 degrees may trigger a spawning.
