The lowest temperatures of the year usually come in mid-January for us. Instead, the thermometer reads a balmy 15F and the lake is full of hardy people.

It has been pretty cold here in NY also but our lakes have not frozen over yet . Small ponds yes ..

Nice Willie. Do you know what species of fish the fisher-folks in the ice shacks are targeting? I went ice fishing for walleye a few time up in Canada...
Back in the day I use to catch some perch, roach or bream .. however with the current forecast, it might not be feasible fullsizeoutput_1ca8.jpg
The lake is mostly fished out of walleye, although perch is still plentiful. Two winters ago, I got a northern pike about a week before the polar vortex (-40F). Of course, we had the presence of mind to use a fish house.
