Congratulations! Nice pair.
They usually start to break away beginning around day 2-3. Unfortunately, I see other tankmates eyeballing those little guys.
Wow this is the first time for these 2 layed eggs. This is a main tank. 11 discus in the tank with various other fish. It’s funny all the other fish are just minding there own business. Nothing seems to be interested in what they’re doing. This all started on Fri. I came home to eggs. Female watched them all weekendAD9E52C9-72D6-4F4F-80DD-593D80E5C5F5.jpgfriday 9AC1D5FF-C026-4E50-8095-600B94766CBB.jpgsaturday 19D24058-C218-41F9-B8C7-868765E224C4.jpg Sunday. Thought today I’d ask the what if question. But it’s happened allready . So what’s next? How long will they be wigglers? Seems the male is very involved this morning. They are taking turns fanning the wigglers.
Congratulations! Nice pair.

Yes there are other tank mates but nothing is bothering them yet. The ones your seeing are coming to me. It’s like they see the camera and they want to get involved. But without it nobody’s go near them.
Nice! Are those from Kennys? Tiger Turqs

Yes they are Kenny’s red tiger turqs . But it seems like the male is now eating the wigglers .
Ah yes such is discus life

Ok I may have been wrong about the male eating them. Do they move wigglers? Seems like this morn what I have are bigger and maybe denser? Like they been moved closer together?
They do move them around Tom. Good deal!
Thanks Dan!
Usually there would be clusters of wrigglers numbering from a few to around 20. Looks good by Friday there should be freeswimmers.

Thanks Cliff. So how long are they wigglers? And the female has hardly eaten. Is this normal? Will she be alright. Never got this far before. I’m not trying here it’s just nature. But with these 2 getting this far on there first time I may set up a tank for them. If they become swimmers will I be able to move them to a tank just for them? If so how would I go about it?
The wrigglers will last to Friday. Usually both female and male usually are on diets so less feeding this is normal. Best to move the pair before Friday this is before freeswimming, because the fry will be swimming all over the tank. By moving the wrigglers first then the parents next it would keep the pair in a parental mode.

Nice !
