Bald Eagles nesting
IMG_3377 (2).jpgIMG_3385 (3).JPGIMG_3672 (4).jpg
This Bald Eagle pair has been nesting at a nearby river for the past few years, but last year the nest blew down in a storm. They've rebuilt a new nest nearby and I've seen a lot of activity lately, hopefully they'll fledge some young this year.
New Jersey now has about 225 pairs actively nesting.

Re: Bald Eagles nesting
We have a population of them growing here in Mississippi, but I've never seen one where I live. I sure wish I had a lens that could take a picture like that. Just beautiful.

Re: Bald Eagles nesting
They are such a success story, in the 70s New Jersey only had one nesting pair. It's so encouraging to see conservation efforts have such great results.

Yes they are! We’ve got red tail hawks all over the island now with peregrine falcons. Also snowy owls and great horned owls. Lots of birds of prey now on the island. Again great pictures. What camera and lens.

Canon EOS 80D with a Canon 100 to 400 zoom. I would love to get a photo of a Snowy Owl, I've only seen one once. Hey Tom, great photo of the two on the nest.

I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky not to have them. We have lots of hawks but my chickens are too heavy for a hawk to take off with. They would be no problem for an Eagle.
