Default i'm new - also: happy st patrick's day

    hi guys,

i don't have any discus at the moment. i don't actually have any plans to get any soon either. i just think in addition to being the best discus forum on the internet, this is also the best general fish forum on the internet. lots of great knowledge here.

    thanks for having me.

oh who am i kidding i'll probably get some discus sooner or later. i need some classic blue turqs in my life.

    thanks for the welcome.

    start of the month:

    end of the month:

no fish in there yet. well there's a baby albino bristlenose. the rest are snails, amano shrimp, some other shrimp, japanese trapdoor snails, nerite snails, a big mystery snail. also ramshorn and pond/bladder/pest snails. happy to say so far i've avoided mts.

Welcome!! Avoided MTS!! Of all they are the only useful ones for a planted tank. They live in the gravel and keep it clean. They eat dead roots. As for those other useless snails they’d be best removed! .

yeah i agree mts are definitely useful in the substrate. i just can't stand the aesthetic, the squirming in the substrate. shallow personal preference only, no evaluation of utilitarian traits.

i like the ramshorn shell and color variation. pond/pest/bladder snails i like for the way they "skate" on the water surface.

i have a video of mine doing just that:
