The only thing any discus need, especially hans. And trust me I know...
Is clean, fully cycled, stable water. Doesn't matter the PH, as long as it's not absurdly high or low, any range will work as long as it's stable
I was told from a local pet shop that Hans Discus need soft water even though they are captive bread. I am not sure I buy that but I wana ask what you guys have seen with Fish from Hans? DO they need super soft water or is that not the case?

I with Shan here. Hans discus can handle most water. Pretty sure they state theirs do well in hard water. Think that’s one of there sales pitches. Like any discus clean new water is needed. When small daily 50% or better wc will bring these guys to life. If planning to mix with other discus you must qt new fish for 4 week than add a hero fish from existing tank to new guys for 2 or more weeks.
Stendker discus are born and raised in some very hard water.
Don't buy from LFS, even Hans discus! Buy them direct from Hams, he's an expert shipper, been doing it for decades. LFS almost always supply substandard discus. Buy direct!
Like Shan said, the only thing any imported Discus need is lots of good clean stable water. Stability is the key to success. Have you checked for a pH swing in water straight from the tap and compared it to water that has sat in a bucket with a bubbler in it for 12 hrs. If there is no more that a .3 swing in pH between the two your water is stable and you can use water straight from the tap for WC. If the swing is .4 like mine, or more, you will have to age the water as constant swings are stressful to the fish and they eventually get sick.

Rather than buying pH strips or a pH meter, I recommend you get your water tested at a LFS. Aerate some water overnight. Take that and a sample of fresh water to the LFS and ask them to run a pH test. My tap water comes out at pH 8.8 and drops to pH 7.6 after 24 hours of aeration.
BTW, the Flachens love it!
At my age, everything is irritating.
My LFS will do that for free. I imagine all do.

Thanks guys - that is exactly what I suspected. I Just figured I would check with you guys for Confirmation. I plan to make an Order in a Month or so - I hope Hans is feeling better by then!

I have seen Discus from Hans in 70 to 120ppm breeding and raising locally.

This is interesting. I didn't know most of these beforehand.
