    Default imminent drought

    Hi all,

With the drought affecting Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. How is everyone affected planning to cope with large water changes? I been thinking of cutting back to once weekly with light feedings. Might even go every other week if drought situation is bad. Not a good time for fish keepers and fish.

I've been pondering about the same issue too. Planning on doing very light feedings so water changes can be reduced, and will only keeping large adult sized discus to also lessen water changes. Also, I might also switch one discus tank to less water quality sensitive species such as rainbows or angelfish. There are a ton of fish species that are as beautiful in their own right. Or as they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Last drought we were only allow 37 gallons per day for each person in the household so not so good. No beefheart feeding.

What I do is feed my RO Waste (during ro water production) and my FishNook Waste (during water changes) to my back yard to water fruit trees. Of course, I don't consume anywhere near the water Discus keepers do.... (perhaps 120 gallons a week counting ro waste and water change waste). but directing my waste water to these locations as eliminated the irrigation that I used to do for those fruit trees. Needless to say my grapefruits were absolutely huge this past february..
