    3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment. - none yet

    Tank/Water

    4. Tank size and ages, numbers and sizes of fish. - 20 G. no other fish tank 6 weeks. fish on it for 4 weeks

    5. Water change regime (What percentage and how often). weekly 10 -50 % based on the testing

    6. How long has tank been running? Is it bare bottom? If you have substrate, what type and how deep is it? - bare. 20 Long tank

    7. Do you age your water? If you do for how long and what is the ph swing. - no aging

    8. What type/brand water conditioner do you use? Do you add it to the tank or aging barrel? How much do you use? - no conditioner

    9. Parameters and water source;

Note: Water Parameters are important in diagnosing problems within a tank. If you don't own test kits for the following information, you can purchase them, test your parameters and post this info as soon as possible.

    - temp _____84

    - ph _____

    - ammonia reading ____0

    - nitrite reading ____0

    - nitrate reading ____0

What type of water or combinations of water sources do you use? If it is an RO/tap/well water mix, please list percentages in the mix.

    - well water ____

    - municipal water ____

    - RO water ____XXX

    10. Any new fish, plants or inverts added recently. --- no

    11. Please tell us what you feed your fish and how often. This can be critical information for solving the problem so be as specific as you can. - 1-2 times daily

I would retest your water. You should have readable nitrates if your tank is cycled. I would also increase water changes to 50% every day or every other day.

Is there a reason you're using RO water? Most regular water supplies are just fine and discus do well in harder water. Also, straight RO water can become unstable and you can risk a ph crash so I would pick up a test kit and check ph as well.

2-3 tablespoons pf salt per 10g wont hurt either...

Not necessarily. RO is used mainly for breeding in order to bring TDS down to around 60-80ppm to allow for fertilization. or when someone's water supply is not ideal for discus because of heavy metals or contaminants. However, RO water removes much needed trace minerals that growing discus must have to reach their maximum potential. Also, RO lacks the buffering ability to maintain stabile ph if its not monitored and maintained regularly. By changing 10-50% weekly you may see ph fluctuations and can risk a ph crash in a short time depending on bio-load. Many people who do use RO will reconstitute the water by using some waste water or a combination of minerals to achieve a proper TDS and stabile ph. But, most water is just fine for discus from the source. The concept that all discus require soft water is a myth. They adapt quite well to harder water...
