    I love brown based reds. They look kind of purplish rather than tomato red. I was considering trying to breed that strain until I found out how hard it is to produce good ones. I've always understood that you can't breed one red cover to another and expect to get red cover offspring. That you will get mostly fry that have stripes that then must be bred to a ghost to get a percentage of red covers. I'm I incorrect? Cliff will know.

    That pair is truly beautiful. The black halo is the finishing touch.

    Yup they don’t breed true and the throwbacks are sold as Rose Red

    Then you breed the rose red to a ghost to be able to get a percentage of red covers, right? It sure would be a fun project.

    Some breeders back cross to establish a line, for example cross back the red cover offsprings with one or both parents. As for the gray ghost one local breeder had problems with the bladder, don't know if this is common among this Discus.
