some of my silver tip tetras look like that...
Hello all,
I don't know where to turn to, so I figured I would ask here. I recently placed an order of tetra species through a well known online vendor. One of the orders was for 10 Peppermint HY511 Ornate Tetra. What I received instead is what I believe to be 10 of some kind of Rasbora????? I've never kept Rasbora so I don't know what kind they are. An online search brought some close matches but no clinchers. Does anyone here know what they might be? See the attached image. Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for looking! Yes they are very pretty especially shoaling. I do not think these are Tetras as they are missing the adipose fin, the small rounded fin between the dorsal and caudal fins.
Will you be putting them in a Discus tank?
Mama Bear
No, I don't have a Discus tank, and I was planning on keeping these right were they are, in the little 20 gallon long.
I'm sorry we haven't been able to identify them here yet. Maybe check around see if their are any rasbora and tetra tanks (?) I like them but I don't have a place for them. They wouldn't like it in any of my tanks, even my BN tanks. Because of the Discus I have to keep the temp of all my tanks around 82 because my WC water is 82.

Who is the vendor? Some are reasonable and will make it right.
Someone was able to Identify these as Silvertip Tetras, Hasemania nana. Apparently one of the few tetras without an adipose fin.
Captainandy, I have contacted the vendor but no response yet. I understand people make mistakes, nevertheless I do require some credit at least since Silvertips are half the price of the HY511's I payed for.
I rather not say the name of the vendor but if you want to know I will give it to you via pm.
