These guys went free swimming on June 1st. I had about 35 and I culled down to the 14 I have now.
They threw out a nice mix of Turk and non Turk fry. I知 excited to see what they turn into. The parents are both barless fish but most of the fry have bars.
I知 also not sure if any of the fry will be blue diamonds. I see red in most of the babies.
I got out of the hobby for 12-13 years so even though this is a small batch I知 having a blast.
Please excuse the micro bubbles. I just finished water changes.21ED5891-5E9E-4ADB-9BA3-D6B8825FCF51.jpg
Have a great day, Matt
Very pretty. Pics of parents? Would love to see the parents!

The babies without any bars will turn out look like Blue Diamonds, the others will be some kind of turquoise. The original Blue Diamonds from the
breeder Sonny Low back in 1990 didn't have any black but were very difficult to breed so commercially they were cross.
Cliff
Hey Cliff, the mom is a reflection deep which looks very similar to a blue diamond. It has some red in its fins, a small amount of facial striation but still blue, and a very light red border all along its fins. The fins also have some I apologize if you are familiar with that variety. I am seeing red in the solid fish already so I’m wondering if any of the babies will look like a high quality blue diamond or more like Mom.
The reflection I have is just now starting to get brighter reds. She is still pretty young.
Either way I love watching the fry grow and whether they are blue diamonds, reflections or whatever the cross may produce, I like them.
I plan on keeping them all until I get a few to breed for next year

I can’t get a photo to show moms reds the way I see it looking in the tank.
Cliff, Do you think I’ll get true blue diamonds out of this cross?
Dad is not the best example of a blue diamond either. He has a few red lines or nicks in his fins so………..
Maybe next spawn ( once I get a bigger tank or free up one) I’ll keep just bar-less fish to see what they turn into. Problem is the reflection deeps supposedly do not really color up until the are sub adults/adults.
That said I do see some red in the fry already. Lol
Thanks for your input.
Respectfully, Matt
Matt great looking fry!! Congrats!! But I’ve got to say that lower blue diamond is the meanest looking fish I’ve even seen!!
Tom, Thank you for the kind words.
As for Momma, she’s mad! She just found out that because of inflation I can no longer afford live black worms and will be switching to Sally’s brand brine shrimp.
She’s a total Deva. Lol
Have a great night, Matt
Wow they are gorgeous. Please keep us updated
