Males or females?

I was at lfs and these two Marlboros's caught my eye at least that's what the girl told me they were I thought Marlboros were red. Maybe they are Pigeon Blood?
They originated from Hans since they purchase all their discus from him. I told Hans that I was thinking of buying them and he told me to go ahead he trust that lfs. They are now on my new 75 g on their own I am doing Al's quarantine protocol. So far they eat very well (freeze dried black worms and pellets) and some nice black poop. So what do you think male females or one of each?

I'm not expert, but I'd say they're both male. The bottom one is definitely male.

To my eye, top is female, bottom is male. Marlboros are typically orange, as these are. They can get redder with feeding or hormones, except Stendker doesn't use hormone. I find VibraBites work very well to bring out the reds.

Vibrabites is part of their diet and I thought the same Top female bottom male but I could be wrong.

Thanks for all the input they are currently doing great in their QT stay tank and they love Al's freeze dried black worms. Sunday I will start their deworming with Wormer X (levemisole) if all seems well.

The vents are the best indicators, if you can see them. If you have two fish of the same strain, which almost means the same batch sometimes, then the finnage might help, but otherwise the shape between strains can be hard to compare. The pointed end on the bottom pic makes for a pretty good guess for male with these two.

After a long time watching Discus you develop an eye for it. But the more times your experienced eye is wrong you just say a probable male and probable female. I'm pretty good but I'm still mistaken from time to time.
