Well this morning they were all gone not one left. So now next round I cleaned up the tank and they will stay in the breeder tank. I could try removing the eggs but that something to think about since I do like the interaction of the parents with the babies.

OK this is round two! Last night they went at it for a few hours and I didn't even turn their tank light off, no distractions. This time they have been in a 20 gallon tank by themselves. This morning I added some methylene blue over the eggs (that did not make them happy) and blocked the light a little so it's not so bright all day. Keep your fingers crossed. Not a great photo but a screen shot of my Blink Mini surveillance camera viewed from my phone I did not want to be intrusive with a camera and my face in front of the tank.

It's funny how I gave them 3 flat rocks and they chose the same one from the first time.

Saw you post......about black rams. I have (3) black ram pairs now. I'm raising (16) black rams up that are currently about a 1/2". I should have more black rams available in the upcoming months. I live in McGaheysville, VA (22840). My goal is to start selling some come spring. Mt breeding stock came from Coralbandit who had some of the darkest black rams available. They look like Double Dark Black angels if that gives you an idea of how dark they are!!

Ok they ate them again I think it was the female since the male was chasing her last night. Should I try removing her next round?

I thought I had at least till the weekend but no. I went home to let the dogs out and gave the fish a lunch treat since my wife Ellen left this morning for Ormond Beach Florida. I cleaned the the sand off the rams only rock in the tank and went back to work. I just checked the camera on the ram tank and they are spawning again. Lets see if I need to remove mom.

Liz do you keep the parents in the tank once their done with the spawn?

I never do. The fungus only attacks dead eggs.

So this batch about 50 to 60 have survived so far in a breeder box and today they are starting to free swim so lets see if they make it. In a few days they will start spawning again and I am ready for another try and I even just ordered another breeder box to keep them separate.

Harvest your bbs within 20 hours to get the smallest food available. Most ram fry die from starvation because their food is too big to eat. Consider using sponge squeezing for the first 24 hours.

I've never had that problem with mine but I try to make their first feeding San Francisco BBS. I think that they nibble on the microorganisms on the plant I like to have in their tank, too,
