    Default Another Discus Newbie

    Hello everyone.
Yes, another Discus newbie here. We have been wanting to start our foray into Discus for awhile now but knew it would be a challenge. We have been breeding Angelfish for a while now but would like to add some Discus too.

Is there a Discus genetics calculator similar to our Angelfish genetics calculator? It would be nice to get an idea on genetics and what potential pairs would produce? I thought I read somewhere here that Leopard x Leopard pairs don't reproduce truly. I would have thought they would produce all Leopards.

I have been visiting here allot recently and decided it was time to join.

I'm going to try to read as much as possible and use the search function to find what I'm looking for.

Our Tap water is fine for Angels but not for Discus. PH is 7.8 with TDS around 300. We are looking at RO/DI systems right now and just trying to figure out the best way to go forward.

    Thanks

As to a genetic’s I’m sure someone has something printed. As to your water if your keeping angels with no problems discus should be fine. Days of old they had to be in sore acidic water. Not now .

The Leopards are hybrids there some turquoise, greens and red spotted greens probably mix into them, they are not a strain.
