    Default Beefheart protein content

    Hi ,
I've been looking to find a good resource to understand the protein content of BH. It seems all documentation gives us is the protein content of BH as a whole (and raw). Nothing out there that gives the protein content of trimmed lean BH. I need to understand this for calculating the % of protein in my mix. I can't get to 50% whatever I try with the numbers below. BTW, please feel free to comment if I made any mistakes in the numbers below. Feedback is always welcome.
The bottom row shows weighted average of all protein content.

Your data for beefheart is probably for trimmed, usual nutritional label shows 15-18% protein. Even then 30/100 gms is high. Most labels shows ~ 70 % of beefheart is water.

    100% agreed with Don.

Raw contains water that will affect your protein amount….. Beef heart raw, It states protein content in 100 gram heart is 17.7 gram.

Agreed. So the question remains... How do we get a Beef heart recipe that gives us 50% protein?

Very simple, you can drive up protein by getting rid of all those other ingredients.

Is there a single nutrient that they provide which is needed for discus growth and isn't already in plentiful supply in beef heart? I, and many other breeders, have raised multiple generations of discus on a strict beef heart diet.
At my age, everything is irritating.
