Some new discus

Picked up some new discus from another somewhat local store.F938BF81-4E03-4F2E-9E9E-DA3B42EBA4EA.jpg7186FF30-0537-4AF8-A4B6-AFDEB9C133BA.jpg. 2 nice looking well fed discus. They are 4.5-5” big. Very red but will have to see how long that lasts. Most of my reds turn orange. No type names for the fish but the solid red one does look like a Raffleisa. Thing I didn’t notice till in my qt tank is it’s top fin has been cropped. Something must have been wrong with the way it looked. It also has a divot in its head with small black dots in it. Not sure what I’m seeing. Would peppering show if the skin is removed? Could it be some sort of mite? It does seem to have some slight peppering in the same place on the other side.FACA92ED-70C5-42BE-8237-318B46AF35C6.jpg013F18A5-A488-4D11-A55E-8562570FD6D7.jpg. Here’s some close up pics. The fish is so bright it’s hard to get the camera to focus on the cut. Any ideas what the black dots are?

Well it’s not going to matter anymore. Fish jumped . Looking at it it wasn’t a cut just a discoloration.

Sorry Tom. Do you have a canopy? One of mine jumped while feeding and landed right on the better brace

Your quarantine tank has fish and plants, you put the two new discus there, imo you already broke the quarantine protocol.

Yes Francis. But I’ve been doing it that way forever. The fish are my own. Bred by me. Plants have been in the tank since new. I like the fish to get used to what they will be living in. This is my first jumper.

Yes I do have a cover but left it open a little to wide. Unfortunately this can happen.

The above discs was also bought locally. At Monster Aquarium. The following week South River got new discus in. An amazing group of discus. Thing is this place doesn’t do anything for incoming fish. They get in lots of fish not just discus. They also sell out quickly. So got there the next day and already close to 100 sold.
