when discus need rest???
hello. I have a pair in a breeding tank for a few months now and actually is my first attempt with a breeding pair.
my female is laying eggs quite often and the male try to fertilize the eggs.
Until now, I only see 4 to 6 winglers each time. (so I have a proven pair).
I want to ask..
if I don't have a complete breeding cycle (eggs- hatch-winglers-new fishes swimming independently) the pair still needs rest???

IMO they don't need a break until they have raised several batches of fry. It's not the spawning that takes it out of them, it's having fry feeding off their sides.
You have had very few wigglers after many attempts. Do you know the TDS of your water. It may be a bit high.

Yeah, your parameters are perfect. The male might not be fully mature. Some strains take longer to mature than others.

I know they need time. step by step. at the moment I see at least few hatchling, so I am heading somewhere.
