    Default Bubbles in silicone

    Hi All,

I bought an old oceanic tank 120 gallons, that was in storage probably for the last 10 years. I've notice bubbling in the silicone that bonds by 2 corner overflows as well as some seams of the actual tank. These aren't microbubbles but are somewhat substantial. As many of you know who have been in the hobby for a while, oceanic is very high quality with thick glass and generally good workmanship. I'm just a bit concerned about the bubbling and how that can affect the structural integrity of the tank. I can try to take pics when I get home, but would love to hear peoples thoughts with experience with this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Have you filled it with water yet. If it holds water I wouldn't worry about the bubbles. If you want to go through a lot of work in order to be super safe you can always re-silicone the tank. An Oceanic is worth it and it's not a hard job.

Liz- it's been full and running for 7 months. OK, I'll just keep an eye on it

I've had a tank with bubbles in the silicone, it was more than 30yrs old when I gave it away. It still holds water last I knew.

Thanks- oceanic's are built like tanks, so I think I will be ok...
