I found a unicorn and bought it. A Sigma 500mm 1:4.5 lens for my Pentax mount. Sigma quit making the lens in this mount five years or so ago. Al will appreciate this shot.

I mounted the lens on a 2x teleconverter and the Pentax K-1 full frame camera body for 1000mm focal length and 1:9-1:11 aperture.

I shot a Yucca at 20 feet and a Red Tail Hawk nest with chicks (almost ready to fledge) on a high tension power girder at 1/4 mile. The hawks would just make an okay documentary photo, but there was enough information in the photo to tell what they were.
