The good old day many discus hobbyists were using a tataniun heater with a Ranco temperature controller.

COMMERCIAL GRADE RELIABLE CONTROLLERS AVAILABLE FOR CONTROLLING AQUARIUM HEATERS
Temperature controllers are used in applications where multiple heaters are needed, i.e. larger aquariums or central systems with a common sump. The principle of operation is to use conventional aquarium heaters and bypass their integral thermostats by setting them to their highest settings, then plugging these into a separate controller.230,120 and 24 Voltages available

Models marked (wired) are fully wired and ready to use - plug heater directly into receptacle on controller and Controller power cord into suitable wall receptacle.

Other units have interior terminals to connect load wires and power cord Requires some basic understanding of electrical wiring to connect.

I been using both the Aqueon Pro heaters with Ink Bird Wi-Fi controllers and Hygger titanium heater with the controller also. Only pro heaters failed on me, and they were ones I bought on Ebay the ones I picked up at Amazon are still in service. I have 7 controllers 6 in service and all working great, those I bought on Ebay but from the manufacturer they sell on eBay much cheaper than Amazon.

    Controller eBay $36

    Controller Amazon $53
