Discus fish domestic strains

Since when have sold discus strains been developed. I saw discus fish first in 1992 and I cannot remember which strain it was exactly but my memory tells it was like a wild turquoise kind of strain. Since last 20 years I have been seeing reds,blues,yellow,checker board in this hobby. When did people start to breed solid different colors and checkerboard kind of discus strains. The older strains in this hobby were more close to wild discus and attractive.

Thanks for the information I never knew that pigeon blood came from Thailand.
