    Question Cycle new tank - UV sterilizer

    Just getting ready to cycle a new 180 G.

    Set up came with a UV Sterilizer. While cycling
    should I keep it off.

    I’d leave it off till cycled and fish added. What type of uv? Is it used?

    I hate those darned things. I would accept one in a planted tank to keep the algae at bay. On a BB Discus tank, they don't accomplish anything that good maintenance does.

    If it’s used it probably needs a new bulb. The bulbs only lasts for 6-8 months. Next the coral life needs a pump to push the water through it.
