Bold red eye is back and the little sucker is cruising up to food and putting his mouth on it, but not biting it that I have seen. Hopefully a good sign that he eventually will nibble something.

He just took a bite (of discus bio-gold pellet by the looks of it)!
One of the fish in the tank passed a pretty large white poop a couple days ago. Day 13 levamisole is Dec 1st, thinking I might him back in isolation for heat treatment after that? Though if he is in fact pecking away I won't do that probably.

    Hi Jwc,

Having a similar issue, one of mine has just stopped eating albeit seems completely fine in himself, he even chases the food but then doesn't eat. I've raised the temperature up (to 30 Degrees C) in hopes that'll work...

How long did yours not eat until you started medicating?

Quite some time, weeks most likely.

Watched him eat a few flecks of beefheart and a couple loose tubifex worms that were floating around during refill after water change tonight. Strange to find myself "fist pumping" for a fish. But here I am. Haha

Ok, it seems he is recovering. I did levamisole per Tammy's post day 1, 5, and 13. Should I follow up with anything else or just see how he recovers? It has been encouraging seeing him eat, just don't want to miss a followup.

Normal looking poop this morning from the little sick one. He's feeding more aggressively, similar to how the last non-eater did. Became the most voracious one and grew like a weed. So hope to see him thickening up in the coming weeks!

Alright, I've been at home quite a bit more than usual the last few weeks. Not for great reasons, necessarily. But I've been trying to keep an eye on this little fish that could. Today I noticed this:

The pictures might not show things particularly well, but it sure looks like worms in the poop to me? I'm going to try netting him and getting a look at it under the microscope.
Any thoughts? I don't know if I should do another round of levamisole... or if this should indicate I need to do something different? He is still eating and acting much, much better. So now that he's actually got something moving through his digestive tract, maybe he needs another round?

Not an expert. Could it be dead worms he's expelling.

It's conceivable, but last dose of levamisole was... quite some time ago. About two weeks (December 1st). My understanding is that levamisole doesn't kill the worms, but paralyzes them allows them to be expelled. Is that correct? Perhaps it paralyzes them for a long time, but I'm doubting it does it for two weeks.

I netted the fish and got some samples, the worms are... quite long. Thread/hair-like and several twisted together. Pulled some out that were kind of hanging. Difficult to tell if they're as long as they appear or if they look longer because they're twisted together.

Bunch of microscope pictures to follow. Inside of the worms (or whatever they are) appears to be a spring-like... gut? Like it spirals. I don't really see any other structures inside or anything. The other good news is that I do not see anything that appears to be worm eggs as shown earlier in the thread.
    For your viewing pleasure.

    Showing the size:

A couple showing them twisted together.

Looks like camallanus. Levamisole is/was a good choice!

Levamisole won't kill the worms so more than one treatment is necessary along with a good water change and scrubbing of the tank between water changes.

I would also add some epsom salts to help expel the worms...

I'm thinking they're dead ones working their way out. I did levamisole day 1, 5, and 13 per Tammy's post earlier on this thread.

I'll keep watching and see. As long as he is still eating I'm not as worried as I was.
Calamanus are red typically, aren't they?

Red, yes. There could be a number of reasons these aren't, but the infestation sure does look like camallanus.

They certainly weren't moving. Not sure if they would be typically or not.

Is this 'normal' for blue diamonds? This fish's bowel movements have always been pretty big, but lately they're absolutely massive and look painful. In fact, when he has one 'stuck' like this, he is less interactive and kind of hides a bit like maybe he is in pain/discomfort.
Is there anything I can do for him? Is it anything to be concerned about at all?
