Not a good combination. In my experience, the spawn produces muddy discus. Still, it'll take many tries before they're successful. Once they're proven, it's easy to force pair adult discus.
Hi All,
I have been raising some discus for a year now, iv got 15, 2in discus and they are around 4.5in or so today. Recently I noticed a Cobalt Blue discus and a Golden yellow discus has paired and started laying eggs.
I want to breed them however I have a couple of questions.
1 : Is it a good idea to breed a mixed pair?
2: Would the babies have a different color or would they follow the parents?
Looking for guidance on this.
Thanks,
Deen.

At my age, everything is irritating.
Thanks Willie,
I guess they are a proven pair coz the eggs have hatched and I see fry.
Any pictures of the free swimming fry? Discus color are determined by their genetic inhertiance, what color were their parent, the color of their grandparents.
