My wild discus breeding thread

Hello all, This is my wild discus breeding thread with photos i bred in June, 2021.

Parents fish are Wild Cuipeua 1 from W.B.Sabby and Wild Mangal also from W.B.Sabby. (Both came as selection line in 2019)

Wild F1 juveniles in this photos are already grown up to adult and i'm trying to get some nice F2 from them now.

Eggs, this female was bit small but lay almost 400 eggs at once.

This is how that 5 specimens looks now.

I'm trying to breed F2 and F1 * Wild for further generations.
Now i get 3 pairs with them (1st one & Wild Cuipeua (It's own father fish), 2nd one & 3rd one, 4th one & 5th one).

After i get F2 between F1 pairs, i also thinking to change the pair with other male and females to get another batch.

I fed them 8 times a day with 2~3times of 100% water change every day when they were young and now i feed twice a day, about 30% water change every day. Main diet was australian blackworms and hikari carnivores pellet, hikari cichlid excel.

Hi Jiseok, I have successfully breed and raised wilds myself and use to have access to WB Sabby wilds. You are definitely doing it right. My issues are getting good growth on the fry and juvies. What size are your growout tanks and what's your water like. Do you add extra minerals etc?

Hello Pat.

I used 60cm cube tank (60cm × 60cm × 60cm) for raising them and i do a lot of water change because the tank is bit small. (3~4 times of 100% WC every day, started from 50% wc at 8th day from hatch, 1~2 times of 100% wc when they lived with parents)
I used tap water for it and add some oyster shell for extra minerals. (I'm using sealab28 and oyster shell for mineral now)
I guess the ph was around 7~7.5 but i can't sure because i'd never check it.
